Yes, all ADR licences are valid for 5 years. If you renew your licence, it will run for exactly 5 years from the expiry date on your current ADR licence.
ADR licences may be renewed at any point during the final year of the current licence’s validity. Candidates must have a minimum of 6 weeks remaining in order that SQA can link the 2 licences together to run consecutively. The new licence will then run for 5 years from the expiry date of the original licence. Training may be completed before year 5 or during the final 6 weeks, but the new licence will be valid for 5 years from the examination date.
The minimum an ADR licence can be issued for is a single class of dangerous goods in either tanks or packages. Additional classes can be added by attending the ADR training course element for that class of Dangerous Good and passing the multiple-choice examination.
Yes. By attending the 1.5-day Tanks ADR training course and passing the multiple-choice examination. You will then receive a new ADR photocard licence showing that you can now transport the existing classes of Dangerous Goods in Tanks as well as Packages.

Unfortunately not. A driver must complete 35 hours of Periodic Driver CPC training during the life of their current Driver Qualification Card (DQC) to trigger a DQC for the next 5 years. If you have already completed some periodic training, you will only be able to claim such hours as to take your total to 35 hours.
